Let's get through January Shall We?

January has never been my favorite month.
It still really isn't, but the good thing is Smalls was born in January and that always gives me something to look forward to.
Until then, we have to find fun stuff to do, like clean the house, and craft, and do this really cool thing to our front window!
I'm so happy with how it turned out.  My sweet Jil helped me make this!  It's really simple-simpler than I thought it would be.  Now, it's not perfect, but I am not anal enough to re-do any of it, so I am hap hap happy with how it turned out...so is Smalls  I bet.
You do things like go to Target for hours with your best friends in January.  They have furniture and wands, and valentines.
Jil and I were here way too long, but how could we notice?  We have too much fun at this particular establishment, and so do Smalls and Charlie.
They have puppies to line up.
I have been working on some updates to my little home, and Jil was helping me make some very serious decisions.  Decisions that husbands say "whatever" or "fine" to.  You need a friend to tell you if it really is good so you aren't living with a terrible mistake until you decide to update again.
I could not get all the adorable throw pillows Jil and I fell in love with, but I got some killer rugs, and a book shelf.
I'll be back little throw pillows.  Mark my words, I will be back.
In other news.
Smalls is loving her new Primary class!  We love Sister Jons!  She brings them a treat and something like a wonderful star that says I am a Child of God to pin on their dress!  Smalls is in love with "that grandma"!
Smalls is my decorator child.  She has a bazillion teeny tiny toys and she sets them up all the time but they have to be just right.  And if you happen to knock them over, watch out!  She hates that!  But when she gets it just right, it is picture worthy and she finds my phone and snaps some shots of her amazing and brilliant work!  I love her too much!
This year, we have church from 9-12, so that leaves us with a whole day of "what do we do now?"
This day, we made petal people.
Tink got a craft kit for Christmas with all the things you need to make petal people/fairies, so we made a whole slew of them!  and I still have material to make more!  They are addicting and oh so cute!
 See?  I told you.
When we finished, we put them in the tea set because they are even more adorable in there!
Can I just say there was a lot of squeaking and clapping going on at this scene.
I may have been involved in it.
You also paint a lot to get through January.
Luckily, Tink was given canvases and an easel and lots of fun paints for Christmas too, and she is wonderful enough to share them with her little sis.
I love that girl.
My daughters could color and paint for hours.  We never have enough printer paper or coloring books to satisfy these two.

This particular little painting was done by both girls.  It is a robot walking his puppy, so Tink let Smalls paint the puppy and the city, and she painted the robot.
I am going to need a gallery for these girls.
And you also play a lot of Go Fish during January, yes you do!  We haven't even gotten to Crazy 8's or Old Maid, just Go Fish.  That's okay with me though, it is getting us through January and that's all that matters.
And reading!  We have been doing a lot of that!
This is the first time in ever that Smalls has just gone in her room and come to me with 5 books and she really sits with me and listens to them.  She is a mover and shaker, so it has taken some time to get her to just sit with me and look through and read books.  But we are there!
We will probably have more of the same through February, but that is okay!  It got us through january.
Positive attitudes people!
