Okay, this is my first year as the Cub Committee Chair, and so far so good...until ...the Blue and Gold Banquet.
Everyone has talked about what a big deal it is, and I would be lying if I said I didn't make myself slightly sick over it.
I had no idea how big of a deal Scouts is to some people, in my opinion some people take it WAAAAYYYYY too seriously, but they do not think so, and these same people are not afraid of telling me how wrong I did things. Plus, I have a budget to stick to, so Blue and Gold was a little bit intimidating to me.
But I think it went really well!
We did a Superhero theme, and the boys loved it! And I have to say, I really loved making the decorations! Look how happy my table looks! I kept them all because I think we need to have a superhero party this summer with all the neighborhood kids! Look at how cute these are!
We also cut out masks for each of the kids, and made t shirt capes for them all (this includes siblings-it was no small undertaking!)
All the scout leaders decided to dress up too! I have no superhero shirts, so Tink and I threw this together. Smalls said I looked more like a villain than a superhero. Either way, it went with the theme right?
And we were on our way!
I made each table a different superhero and my sweet Kermit helped me out. We had each of the superhero logos in the center of the table (Iron Man's table turned out especially cool) and then I had matching plates and napkins and tablecloths.
The boys loved it!
I was secretly giggling over inside because I was so happy they were so excited as they walked in!
I have done parties for kids in the past, but this one seemed like so much more! It's the Blue and Gold people!!! I knew I had to impress! So it was that much more satisfying listening to all the boys as they came in!
Look how cute Kermit is! (speaking of cute boys!)
Just another shot of the gym.
And check out the cute phone booth! Our cub master made that and it turned out so cool! The kids loved it! We put all the masks and capes in there, so they could go in as their "mild mannered" self and come out a superhero! They loooooved it!
Here are some of the littles. And my own sweet smalls, I am not sure what she is munching on, but she loved hanging out with Mac all night (left of Smalls).
And look at those masks! Couldn't you just die? I am dying.
Tink kept her's on all the way until bedtime. She was especially happy because she had to take her glasses off for the masks, so it made her extra superhero-ish.
Here are my crazy crazy cub scouts!
They had a blast! We basically sugared them up, costumed them up, and sent them home with their parents...well done!
When we got home, it was time to finish up our Valentines.
I was one tired superhero/villain before I finally went to bed.
Not bad for a rookie.

That party looks amazing and tell those rude people to shove it hard!
Love the photo booth too. You are amazing at your party skills! I love how it turned out - so amazing. I think I would hate that calling. So good job for doing it and rocking at it. I am with you. I don't get the whole boy scout thingy!
