Labor Day Weekend

What a way to kick off the school year. We had a really fun weekend.
We drove to Twin Falls because Aunt Sassy and Uncle Havel were gonna be there, and we haven't seen our baby niece since her blessing (we are losers!) And, of course, because it was time for the Twin Falls County Fair! Everybody who's anybody was there.
Just kidding, I hate the fair-for those of you who don't know. But I sucked it up, put on a happy face and we went to the stinky, smelly, gross, dirty, slimey, fun-filled, super duper fair!First stop, the petting zoo (yay, what is my baby getting all over her hands?)
Goat slobber, that's what.
Tink loved feeding them too, she thought it was magical (and it really is).

I can't tell you how hard it was to take these pictures and not just grab her and sanitize her from head to toe.
However, it's pretty cute, in a gross, goatish sort of way.

She was super excited though, so that helped to soften the blow.

Aunt Sassy and Baby LJ. See, she never did get ugly huh. She's just one of those people who, even on her ugly days, is just pretty, just really stinkin pretty (and yet, I don't want to kill her). And could you just eat that baby up? I could. I loved that we got to spend time with them!!! This pic was in the scenic Ag building, shortly afterward, we stole all the coloring pictures for Sassy's class.
We are rebels.

Smalls enjoyed playing in the beans and corn pool with all the tractors...wait, what?
I love the fair!

Again, YAY for the fair!

And horses, there were horses. And was Smalls afraid of them? No not a bit. She walked over to them and waved at them and talked to them and even petted them.

Can you guess what I was thinking?
"Oh, I hope I get to clean 'horse sneeze' off her next."
Tink and Kermit were much to busy and involved to pose or stop for any pictures, so just picture in your head the amazing time they had at the fair. As long as it involves dirt, slobber, dirty food, disgusting dirty toes, way too much Diet Coke, and a bit of a sunburn-you have imagined correctly.

Sunday, we were supposed to get to go with Sassy and Havel to a cabin for a picnic and some fishing and just a good time, after church of course!
We did get up and go to church, then we loaded up our picnic and we were off to an amazing adventure in Hagerman. When we got to the "Resort" it was amazing!
for 1952
There was beautiful wood paneling, and a golden yellow kitchen sink, and on and on and on. Kind of charming in a horror movie sort of way...
To make a long story short, the owner felt it was wrong for us to be there picnic-ing and visiting if we weren't going to stay the night (only sassy and havel were). After words were exchanged between Owner and Havel, it was decided, we would leave.
It was sad cuz we had to leave our cute aunt and uncle and that cute baby. What was sadder, I didn't know where my camera was. So I have no proof of these events.
MONDAY!
We went apple pickin'!
Talk about a fun day out! We had such a good time, check out Kermit, he looks like a professional apple picker. That thing he has is a tool that helps you get the apples that are up really high.
He's just too cute.
Tink was excited to get in on the action, she picked tons of apples and had a good time too, she would have picked them all if we'd let her. But we wouldn't cuz we're mean.
Smalls had to give it a try, she just kept waddling throught the orchard saying, "apple, apple". It was really cute.
I love this picture, you can't see any faces, that could be anyone pickin' apples and I just took their picture. Only I know it's Rambo and Smalls.
Kermit gave up on the apple picking tool and decided Dad's shoulders were the way to go...this didn't last too long, Kermit's getting BIG!!
Tink has got it all wrong...that's for the apples that are way up high...didn't I tell her that?
psh, kids...
So in love with these babies am I.
How cute is this picture? Kermit is such a great big brother.
I had to give this a try too, this was a fun day/experience for us. I'm so glad we found this orchard, we are definitely coming back! Their Jonathan apples will be ready in two weeks, then they have a pumpkin patch in October! I'm in loooove with this place. The family that owns it was super nice too, we talked to them forever.
A Tink/Rambo action shot.
Smalls did her part handing me every apple on the ground. I love this girl.
Then she sat on the wagon inspecting the apples we thought we wanted to keep. She made the final decision, either throwing them in the bucket, or throwing them on the ground.
Apple inspection.
My adorable family. I kiss them entirely too much.
We also picked blackberries. Here's the farmer showing Tink where all the good ones "hide". She loved this!
Then, the greatest, Tink got to pet a goose. She had such a great time with all this. And Kermit told us later it was the best day/weekend EVER!
After apples, we had scones at a dive of a place, it had it's charm though. Rambo was not impressed with their scones. Smalls was just there to dance.
Well, both the girls were just there for the dancing. They did eat a little too.
It was such a fun weekend.
I wish we could have spent more time with Sassy and Havel and little LJ, but it was just not in the cards. Maybe next time...

I love the fair just as much as you do...I have the same thoughts going through my head when I am at the fair. I could feel your excitment about being there!! However, I do for reals love the apple picking thing. I remember doing that when I was a kid. It looks like you guys had tons of fun and I love the pics. You are such a great mom and I love to see you and your cute fam!!

I seriously laugh my butt off reading your posts! You are so funny! But I have been telling you that for the last 15 years of your life! So keep it up and post more often!
Love seeing your kids cute stinking face!
Love the apple picking! Utah is lame and doesn't do fun stuff like that! ugh!
I am with you on the fair - sick nasty and I don't want to see or smell what I will eat the next day for my dinner - thank you!
Love you!

Animals, apples, and blackberries--all of my favorite things! How lucky can you get? I have countless memories of picking black raspberries in my grandmother's orchard. My sister and I always pretended we were trying to make a pathway in a dense "thorny" jungle--happily eating many more black raspberries than we ever picked for Grammy's pie.
