EW

E and L found a spider yesterday, so we had to capture him and put him in our little bug house. My children were fascinated by this disgusting creature. They wanted to keep him, they named him Mr. Stubby Legs. I hope he couldn't understand his name, it might have hurt his spider feelings, then again, I don't think I really care about his feelings. They also have an unnatural interest in rolly pollies, ladybugs (which I'm cool with) centipedes-wrong, bees-completely not okay, the common house fly (why?), and praying mantiss's's'. I can understand the last one, I think they're kinda cool too, oh and ants! We mustn't forget the ants. During the summer we house many different species of bugs, sometimes I'm aware of them other times I have no idea until E slams one of his drawers shut at my appearance and then I look in to discover I have an ant farm in my child's bedroom-- again....why? Oh well, let 'em be kids.

That's not unusual; it's normal! I spent every spring-autumn playing with bugs and frogs and newts. I loved catching things and investigating them. In 1st and 2nd grade, my friends and I had a bug club because we loved them so much! We would get mad at our parents for burning the tree-eating caterpillar nests. GO KIDS AND BUGS.
