Girls Night!
Both our boys were gone, Dad was working and Ethan was camping with the Scouts, so that left just us girls all alone! So naturally, I bought a craft for the girls to do. I love how serious they get about painting their crafts, it's adorable.
I found these cute little tulips and thought they were perfect to fit right in with our Easter decorations, and they are!
Aubrey was concentrating too hard to smile for me.
But not London, she looked right up and smiled!
We painted them, and dipped them in sparkles, and proudly displayed them on the mantle.
We spent the rest of the evening drinking our favorite soda pops and watching Tom and Jerry.
I love my boys to pieces, but I really love hanging out with my girls!
FHE: "Egging" houses!
We have tried to do this for the past few years, we pick a family to go with us.
We pick some families in the neighborhood, and try to do about a dozen eggs per family, we fill the eggs with candy and hide them in their yards, knock on the door and run away.
The kids love it!
We did 6 families this year!
I got to the dollar store early and bought a ton of their plastic eggs! It was so fun.
We went with the Sorenson's and the kids were hilarious to watch. I am amazed we ever get anything like this done and keep it a secret. We only got caught by one family, but they have like a million windows in the front of their house, so oh well.
Surprise party!
My friend who I Zumba with, and who helped me make Aubrey's birthday cake turned 40 last week. Her husband planed a big surprise party for her, and asked me a couple weeks ago if I could make her a big beautiful cake. I was a little surprised because the only "super cake" I've ever made was with her help, and now he was asking me to make a cake FOR her and keep it a surprise!
I accepted his challenge.
I wanted to keep it pretty simple, just a sort of wonky present cake that was kind of cutesy with a big bow on it.
I crash course learned how to make fondant bows. You have to make all the loops and then let them sit out to dry, so there are my loops.
It took me 2 days to make this cake! I spent a lot of time on my feet, and stressed quite a bit about it, but I did it!
when I got to this point, I felt like crying tears of joy! Nothing had burnt, or fallen on the floor, or run out of ingredients!
WINNING!
And voila! The bow on top, and she's ready to rock!
I kept all the plastic wrap inside the loops until we got to her house because I was afraid the loops would fall. It was my first fondant bow, and I may have learned that I rolled the fondant out too thick.
Good to know.
Aubrey was my helper and drove with me to the party.
I had a brilliant idea before we left! i grabbed one of my rug stoppers to put the cake on! It worked like a charm!
The cake didn't move the whole time we were driving!
We all got there and finished decorating her house, then we all visited and got to know each other and then when we heard them drive up, we all hid like a bunch of 12 year olds. It was so much fun! Then she got home and we popped out and surprised her!
Here she is!
We sang Happy Birthday to her, and while we were singing, her husband started tearing up and just giggling, he was so adorable, he loves her so much.
ALSO, while we were singing, her parents snuck out of their hiding place (the live in Layton, and drove up to surprise her) and right up behind her, and her mom started singing really softly, and Julie just spun around hugged the stuffing out of her parents. It was so touching.
Cute cute family!
Here's Julie and her sweet daughter!
And I had to get one too!
I love this woman! And she was impressed with the cake and loved it!
Yay!
Rabbit Ears!
Sweet Aunt Nettie sent these adorable bunny ear barrettes to my girls! Aubrey loooooved them! For some reason, she associated them with her super hero cape and immediately put that on and "flew" around the house in her cape and ears.
Hey, whatever works.
Also, she got the idea to make a potion while dressed this way...it fits.
A potion in her bubble bottle with her bunny ears and cape.
Happy Easter?
And here we are, my girls and I, Easter dress shopping! These are not their Easter dresses, but they are adorable in these little get-ups! I love these dresses! And I did not buy them, and that was dumb. I absolutely should have bought them for these girls who love to be comfy.
At least I have a cute picture of them, and I also need to carve out a minute to go back to Old Navy and get these for them! Too dang cute!
Also, my toilet phone totally works!
Amazing! This phone has been hosed down by a fire hose, a truly honest to goodness fire hose at the water parade, the screen is cracked, and also it fell in a toilet.
Takes a lickin' keeps on tickin.
I love this thing!
Aubrey and I had lunch with Grandpa Dan at chic fil a, and she rocked her bunny ears all through preschool and lunch. These things are so dang cute!
Thank you Aunt Nettie!
And before we left Grandpa Dan for the day, Aubrey put on a puppet show for me.
ALSO!
It looks like Grandpa Dan is headed for remission! All his blood counts are starting to stabilize, he is reacting to the bone infusions really well, and he is doing great!
Love that guy!
Stay tuned for Easter!

Love the cake! You will have to teach me how to make one like it, now that you are an expert.
oh my gosh I love those tulip flowers. So cute and good job on painting.
I like the Egg attack. That is so cute. I need to do that next year. Thank you for the cute idea. It reminds me of door bell ditching at Valentine's day.
